It’s so hard to get out of bed now. The mornings are still dark and there’s a definite chill in the air. If it wasn’t for the two little, white, fluffy dogs imploring me to take them for a walk, I think I’d pull up the blanket and roll over for another hour.
One of the things that makes a bedroom look complete is a bedhead. Beds without something anchoring them to the wall just seem to make the room look unfinished.
There are loads of bedheads available. Some come with the bed, others are attached to the frame and some just sit by themselves against the wall. But what about doing something a little bit different?
This chalkboard painted bedhead is really cute and you could leave messages to each other. Mine would read “Don’t wake me if it’s raining.”
And look at this wallpapered bedhead. Just paper the wall then add some timber moulding. It looks great and doesn’t take up any space, which is especially good if you have a smaller room.
I love the look of this room with the gilded framed map hung low but the practical Virgo in me is asking how user friendly it might be. Even lying down, you might bump it with your head or hand.
This white carved panel is just gorgeous as a bedhead. When doing an all white room you really need to add texture so as not to end up with a cold and uninviting space. Can’t get much more texture than this panel, can you?
Some people don’t like having things over their heads when in bed. They fear the item will come crashing down on them in the middle of the night. I’ve even had clients who won’t put artwork behind the bed, so I don’t know that this option is for them. But the shelf with interesting coloured glass bottles is an option. I’m wondering if there’s a disused fireplace behind the bed and that shelf was once the mantle? It certainly looks that way.
This little niche isn’t going to work for those people either, but it’s certainly an option and provides a shelf behind the bed as well as crimping space from the room too.
Do you have a bedhead on your bed? If not, then perhaps one of these ideas might get you thinking. You can see theses images and their original sources as well as plenty more inspirational bedrooms on my Bedroom Pinterest Board.
